Prerequisites
Basic linear algebra and analysis. Knowledge of basic Functional Analysis is useful but not strictly required. Basic programming skills (in an arbitrary programming language). Interest in numerical analysis.

Aim of the course
To learn about the theory and practice of the Finite Element Method for the numerical solution of, in particular, elliptic partial differential equations.Topics that will be covered include well-posed variational formulations of PDEs, Galerkin approximations, construction of finite element spaces, a priori error estimates, a posteriori error estimates, and adaptive finite element methods.
